Driving from Dublin
The drive from Dublin to Galway is 140 miles and will take approximately 2.5 hours. The recently opened N6 extension, means most towns are now by-passed, so there is a direct motor way as far as Athlone. From Athlone, continue on the N6 through Ballinasloe, Loughrea and Craughwell.
When you reach Oranmore you will arrive at the first roundabout called ‘Oranbeg’ take the 3rd exit towards Galway City.
The next roundabout is called ‘Carrowmoneach’ take the 2nd exit.
The next roundabout ‘Martin’ - To the East. Take 1st exit (left) go through 1 set of traffic lights (past Galway Crystal) then straight onto the fourth roundabout (2nd exit past GMIT), then straight through two set of lights and Days Hotel Galway is located on your right.
Driving from Galway Airport
Direct daily flights operate to and from Dublin and London, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow. Galway Airport is located in Carnmore, approximately 6km from Galway City near Oranmore. The short drive to the city centre is well signposted. On exiting the airport, turn Right, at the Crossroads turn right until you approach the first roundabout 'Carrowmesh’, take the 3rd exit towards Galway City. From Oranmore, on approaching the Oranbeg roundabout, follow the directions above.
Driving from Knock Airport
Flights run regularly to Knock from Dublin, London (Stansted), Manchester and Birmingham. Knock International Airport in Charlestown, Co. Mayo is a little over an hour from Galway City. From Knock Airport take the N17 south past Knock Town, Claremorris and Tuam to Galway City.
Driving from Shannon International Airport
Located in Co. Clare, Shannon Airport is an hour and a half's drive south of Galway City.Shannon Airport offers a wide range of direct flights from Dublin, the UK, continental Europe and North America. If you are driving, take the N18 north from Shannon to Galway City through Ennis, Gort, Kilcolgan and Oranmore, from ‘Oranbeg’ Roundabout follow the directions listed above.
